The Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis was the central speaker during an event held in Kifisia on the Heritage of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
In the context of the event organized by the Mayor of Kifisia Mr. Giorgos Thomakos, coordinated by the Vice-Mayor Mrs. Nina-Aspasia Vlachou, a historical documentary video was presented by the Vice-President of the Cultural Centre of the Municipality.
The event of was also attended by the MP of the North Sector of Athens Mr. Giorgos Koumoutsakos representing the President of the Hellenic Parliament , the Deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Zoi Rapti, HAGS Chief Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis representing the Chief of HNDGS, as well as representatives of the Metropolitan of Kifisia, Amarousion and Oropos and representatives of the HNGS Chief.
In his speech the Deputy Minister of National Defence stressed the significance of the national rebirth, as a triggering point of establishing examples of courage, heroism and self-sacrifice during the historic course of Hellenism. He also talked about the virtues bequeathed from the Revolutionists to the new generations which kept the nation united during dire times. At the same time he highlighted the historic value of Kifisia, the birthplace of the Hero of the Macedonian Struggle Pavlos Melas, who responded to the call of the Homeland. He stressed that the message of 1821 conveys optimism and decisiveness, thus reinforcing our deterring power.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence wished a speedy recovery to the Metropolitan of Kifisia and to the rest of the Synodal Court’s members who were victims of an attack last Wednesday at Petraki Monastery.
