Deputy Minister of National Defence Giannis Kefalogiannis Attends Commissioning Ceremony of New Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Service Support Officers Graduate Officers

On Friday, 25 October 2024, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis, attended the commissioning ceremony of the new officers of the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Service Support Officers in Thessaloniki, as representative of the Prime Minister.

The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms Ekaterini Sakelaropoulou, who presented the swords to the new officers.

The ceremony was also attended by the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, the Commanding General of C Army Corps/NRDC-GR, Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis, and the Academy Commandant, Major General (MD) Georgios Gouvas, as well as His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Neapoli and Stavroupoli Mr. Varnavas, representatives of the Hellenic Parliament, political parties, the Security Forces, Embassies, Honorary Chiefs of Staff, active duty and retired officers, and family members of the new officers.

Graduates included 44 officers, 27 for the Army, 5 for the Navy, 9 for the Air Force, and 3 for the Legal Joint Corps.

After the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement:

From the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Service Support Officers, the academy that trains Officers-Scientists and connects the academic background with the contribution to the Country, I would like to congratulate the new officers, their families, and the academy’s faculty.

This graduation opens up new horizons. I urge them to continue their education, broaden their judgement, and form a strategic perception by pursuing postgraduate and doctoral studies in Greek universities and distinguished schools and academies abroad. The Officer Corps they belong to enjoys the acknowledgement of our entire society. An acknowledgement that is based on the scientific competence, professionalism, social contribution, and multifaceted education of Academy graduate officers.

The Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Service Support Officers is constantly upgraded. We established the Informatics Department, which will decisively contribute to the protection of the Armed Forces in view of the modern cybersecurity challenges.
