On Tuesday, 31 October 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, accompanied by the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras HN, attended exercise “KYMA 3/23” of the Underwater Demolition Command, which took place on an islet of the Argo – Saronic Gulf. Exercise “KYMA 3/23” is the most important combined exercise of the Underwater Demolition Command. After operational training of Unconventional Warfare Teams and Unconventional Warfare Vessels, the two joined forces to execute complex technical tasks and combined exercises. Mr. Kefalogiannis had the opportunity to discuss with and congratulate the men of the Hellenic Navy's Underwater Demolition Forces for the flawless execution of such complex and demanding operational tasks. After the end of the activities, the Deputy Minister stated the following:
“I confirmed the excellent results of hard training, the great operational readiness, as well as the deterrent capability of the Underwater Demolition Command. Congratulations to the participants and thank you for your high morale, devotion to duty, as well as your everyday work. The country's Armed Forces work day and night to protect National Sovereignty”.
