On Thursday, 07 December 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, visited the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ in Larissa, where he was welcomed by the Commanding General, Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplos.
Mr. Kefalogiannis was briefed by the Hellenic First Army Chief of Staff, Major General Konstantinos Gakis, on its organisation, mission, operational work, and the challenges it is faced with, while he also discussed with personnel of Surveillance Outpost “NIKI” of C Army Corps in Florina, Surveillance Outpost “1” of D Army Corps in Kastanies, Evros, as well as with a patrol in the area of Soufli.
The Deputy Minister was then given a tour by the Deputy Commanding General, Major General Theodoros Chatzigeorgiou, of the premises of the Hellenic First Army/EU-OHQ and the War Headquarters, from where he communicated with the War Headquarters of C Army Corps and D Army Corps and the Operations Centre of the 1st Army Aviation Brigade, where he discussed with the Commanding General, Lieutenant General Paris Kapravelos, the Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Christos Karagounis, and the Commanding General, Brigadier General Georgios Stamnas, respectively.
