The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Giannis Kefalogiannis visited today, Tuesday 18 June 2024, the 383 Special Operations & Air Fighting Squadron, where he was received by the Commander of 113 Combat Wing, Group Colonel (AF) Panagiotis Mittaris.

Mr. Kefalogiannis was briefed on the Squadron’s organisation, structure, mission and current activities, while he discussed with the personnel and was toured in the grounds where the Canadair CL415 Aircraft are based.

After the completion of his visit, the Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement:

“Today I visited the Base of 383 Special Operations & Air Fighting Squadron, here in Thessaloniki, where I had the opportunity to tour the area where the Canadair CL415 are based, discuss with the personnel, and congratulate it on the important work it performs in firefighting. We are aware that the mission of Air Firefighting, which has been entrusted to them, is particularly demanding while, when needed, they perform search and rescue missions. We are proud that they are part of the Armed Forces, and grateful for their contribution to the Greek society. I would like to reassure you that we, as Ministry of National Defence, will continue to be at their side, guaranteeing the suitable conditions for them to fulfil their noble duty.”
