Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias Visits Armed Forces Formations and Units in Ioannina, Aktion, Kalamata, and Crete

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias visited today, Monday 17 January 2022, Ioannina, Aktion, Kalamata and Crete and he will continue visiting Armed Forces Formations and Units; this is the second day of the three-day trip which began yesterday from the island of Othoni and Molyvdoskepasti.

More specifically, Mr. Chardalias visited successively the 8th Motorised Brigade Headquarters and the “Lt. Gen CHARALAMBOS KATSIMITROS” Camp in Ioannina, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Support Unit and the respective NATO Operational Base in Aktion, the 120th Air Training Wing in Kalamata and the Surveillance Outpost “GAVDOS”.

In the context of the visits, the Deputy Minister of National Defence was informed by the Formations and Units Commands on the history, the organization, the mission, as well as their current operational and training activities. He also visited the premises and their infrastructure and at the same time he had the opportunity to meet and discuss with the personnel.

In addition, Mr. Chardalias visited the Naval Hospital in Crete, as well as the Big Vaccination Centre in Chania, operating within the Hospital’s premises. This high capacity vaccination station, which started operating in May 2021, is another indication of the dynamic participation of the Armed Forces medical personnel in the vaccination process, to the benefit of the whole society, in the context of operation “ELEFTHERIA” in order to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
