On Tuesday, 14 March 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, attended the change of command ceremony of the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command at the Formation’s headquarters in Chios, with Brigadier General Charalampos Abatzidis assuming command from Brigadier General Emmanouil Chatzis.
The ceremony was also attended by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Chios, Psara, and Inousses, Mr. Markos, the Mayor of Chios, Mr. Stamatis Karmantzis, the Deputy Head of Region for Chios, Mr. Pantelis Vroulis, the Commanding General of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands, Lieutenant General Sotirios Kostakoglou, the Mayor of Inousses, Mr. Georgios Daniil, delegations of Armed and Security Forces officers, and others.
