Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Chardalias Represents Government at the Events for the 198th Anniversary of the Battle of Mykali in Pythagorio, Samos

On Saturday, 6 August 2022, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, represented the Prime Minister at the celebrations for the 198th anniversary of the Battle of Mykali and the feast of the Transfiguration of the Redeemer organised by the Municipality of East Samos in Pythagorio.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the doxology at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Redeemer, officiated by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Samos, Ikaria & Korsees, Mr. Efsevios, followed by a memorial service and wreath laying at the bust of Lykourgos Logothetis at the yard outside the Church of the Transfiguration.

Finally, he attended a traditional dance performance by members of a local cultural society at Irini square in Pithagorio.

The events were also attended by the MP for Samos, Mr. Christodoulos Stefanadis, the Chiefs of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalampos Lalousis, and the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral CG Georgios Alexandrakis, the Deputy Head of Region for the Regional Unit of Samos, Mr. Vasilios Panourakis, the Deputy Mayor of East Samos, Mr. Vasilios Valkamlis as representative of the Mayor, the Mayors of Piraeus, Mr. Ioannis Moralis, West Samos, Mr. Alexandros Lyberis, and Mytilini, Mr. Efstratios Kytelis, the Secretary General for the Reception of Asylum Seekers, Mr. Emmanouil Logothetis, the Commanding General of the Higher Military Command of Interior and Islands, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Houpis, the Commanding General of the 79th Higher National Guard Battalions Command, Brigadier General Nikolaos Lampidonis, the Commanders of the local Security Forces services, as well as a delegation of Armed Forces officers.
