Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Chardalias visits 251 General Airforce Hospital

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias visited the 251 General Airforce Hospital on Thursday, 3 March 2022, accompanied by the Chief of HAFGS, Lieutenant General, Themistoklis Bourolias, and the Director of HAFGS Medical Corps Directorate, Major General, Panagiotis Kostopoulos, within the context of his visits to the Military Hospitals.

The Deputy Minister of Defence was briefed by the Commander of 251 General Airforce Hospital, Brigadier General, Konstantinos Georganas, on the organization and operation of the Military Hospital. He subsequently toured the Hospital premises and infrastructure where he talked with the Hospital physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel, as well as with inpatients and their accompanying persons.

Mr. Chardalias also visited the Interventional Radiology – Neuroradiology Laboratory where he was briefed by its Director, Colonel (Med Corps) Konstantinos Lagios on its operation. He was further informed of the recent supply, installation, and operation of the state-of-the-art and innovative, biplane interventional neuroradiology angiography system, donated by Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the sophisticated software which increases both the efficiency and the success rates of CNS, peripheral vascular, and body surgical interventions.

The Deputy Minister of Defence commended the 251 General Airforce Hospital Commanding Officers, medical, nursing, and administrative personnel on their perpetual effort under adverse conditions, which results in the provision of excellent and modern health services. He concurrently stressed that the highly professional training of the Armed Forces’ health personnel, along with its high sense of responsibility, decisively contributed to the handling of the pandemic over the last two years, thus confirming the unbreakable bond established between our society and the Armed Forces.
