On Thursday, 16 December 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, visited Army Formations and Units within the framework of his three-day visit to Thrace.
In particular, he visited the Headquarters of D Army Corps, where he was received by the Commanding General, Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis. He was briefed on the mission, work, and operational and training activities of the Corps and its subordinate Formations and Units. From D Army Corps Headquarters, Mr. Chardalias spoke via teleconference with the Guard Commander and the personnel of the Surveillance Outpost of Plagies “Private Georgios Kontsalakis”.
Subsequently, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, accompanied by the Commanding General of D Army Corps, visited Camps “Epilarchou Theodosiou Stefanidi” in Xanthi and “Ypostratigou Dimitriou Papapostolou” in Glafki, the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Xanthi, as well as the National Guard Battalion of Echinos.
During these visits, Mr. Chardalias was briefed by the Unit and Hospital Commands on their mission and work and was given a tour of their installations. At the same time, he had the opportunity to discuss and exchange wishes, in view of the Christmas holidays, with the military and civilian personnel, the National Guardsmen, the patients at the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, and their caregivers.
Finally, Mr. Chardalias hosted a dinner at the Xanthi Officers’ Club, which was attended by the Head of the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christos Metios, his Eminence, the Metropolitan of Xanthi and Perithori, Mr. Panteleimon, his Eminence, the Mufti of Xanthi Bilal Kara Halil, the Mayors of Xanthi, Mr. Emmanouil Tsepelis, Avdira, Mr. Georgios Tsitiridis, Myki, Mr. Deli Husein Ritvan, and Topiros, Mr. Thomas Michoglou, the Director of the Political Affairs Service of Xanthi (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), First Counsellor Mr. Symeon Tegos, the Manager of the General Hospital of Xanthi, Ms. Eleni Rafaela, the Commanding General of D Army Corps, Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis, the Commander of the Xanthi Fire Services, Fire Colonel Ioannis Arabatzis, and the Harbourmaster of Porto Lagos, Lieutenant CG Evangelos Sakkopoulos.
