Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Chardalias Visits Formations, Units, and Surveillance Outposts in Evros

On Sunday 6 and Monday 7 November 2022, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, was in Evros, where he visited Army Formations, as well as Surveillance and Observation Outposts in the area of responsibility of D Army Corps.

More specifically, on Monday, 7 November 2022, Mr. Chardalias, accompanied by the Commanding Generals of the Hellenic First Army, Lieutenant General Angelos Houdeloudis, and D Army Corps, Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplos, drove along the Greek – Turkish border in the areas of responsibility of the XII and XVI Mechanised Infantry Divisions and visited the bridge connecting Greece with Turkey, the Surveillance Outposts “KIPI”, “126”, “DILOFO”, “GEFYRA PYTHIOU”, and the Observation Outpost “PRASINI PORTA”, where, among others, he inspected the deterrent obstacle and the new power supply project.

He also went to the Headquarters of the XVI Mechanised Infantry Division in Didymotiho, where he was briefed on the Formation’s current activities, and the headquarters of the Single Border Control – Surveillance Centre in Nea Vyssa, Orestiada, where he was briefed on the actions, procedures, and border surveillance assets.

On Sunday, 6 November, the Deputy Minister of National Defence had a working meeting in Alexandroupolis with the Commanding Generals of the Hellenic First Army, Lieutenant General Angelos Houdeloudis, D Army Corps, Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplos, and D Army Corps subordinate Formations.

While in Evros, Mr. Chardalias met with the Mayors of Alexandroupolis, Mr. Ioannis Zampoukis, and Didymotiho, Mr. Romylos Hatzigiannoglou.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence made the following statement: “Out borders are impenetrable, our personnel alert and with a unique sense of duty and dedication!
