On Wednesday, 23 March 2022, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, visited the Hellenic Military Geographical Service in Athens, accompanied by the Director of the Geographical Directorate of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Brigadier General Kimonas Kalenteridis.
Within the framework of the visit, Mr. Chardalias was briefed by the Commander of the Hellenic Military Geographical Service, Colonel Dimitrios Loisios, on the Service’s history, organisation, mission, activities, geographical products, and scientific – technical work.
Furthermore, he was given a tour of the facilities and working areas of the country’s oldest cartographic organisation, where he discussed with officers and civilian personnel of the Service’s Staff and Directorates, as well as the Army Topographic Squadron.
He was also given a tour of the Museum exhibitions, where he was given a short presentation of the Hellenic Military Geographical Service’s history.
Finally, he had a short meeting with representatives of the organisation’s Civilian Employee Association.
The Deputy Minister congratulated the Command, the officers, and the civilian personnel of the Hellenic Military Geographical Service for their excellent and multifaceted work. He stressed the great importance of the organisation to the national defence planning, as well as to the progress of the country’s development policy through its cooperation with Ministries, state and private actors, and educational institutions on programmes and projects of major national importance.
