Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Chardalias Visits Hellenic Navy Underwater Demolition and Fast Boat Commands

On Wednesday, 30 March 2022, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias visited Fleet Headquarters Units in the broader region of the Skaramangas Naval Fort.

More specifically, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the headquarters of the Underwater Demolition Command in Skaramangas and the Fast Boat Command in the Salamis/Amphiali Naval Base, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis HN, the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Panagiotis Lymberis HN, and the Commanding General of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff’s Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas. They were welcomed by the Commander of the Fast Boat Command, Captain Mihail Pantouvakis HN, and the Commander of the Underwater Demolition Command, Commander Konstantinos Nasopoulos HN, respectively. The Commander of the Amphibious Forces Command, Captain Dimitrios Filinis HN, also attended.

In the context of the visits, Mr. Chardalias was briefed by the Commands on their organisation, mission, work, and current operational and training activities. He was also given a tour of their facilities and addressed the personnel.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of National Defence visited the MARK V SOC “AIOLOS” of the Underwater Demolition Command, the Guided Missile Fast Patrol Boat KARATHANASIS of the Fast Boat Command, and the Fast Transport Ship KERKYRA of the Amphibious Forces Command, in the Salamis/Amphiali Naval Base. After a short briefing by the ship Captains, Mr. Chardalias was given a tour of their main compartments and addressed all crews.

The Deputy Minister of National Defence congratulated the Commands and the personnel for their readiness, top operational level, and fast deployment capability anywhere inside or even outside Greek territory, if required, an indisputable guarantee of protection of our national sovereignty, as well as Greek flag projection.
