On Sunday, 27 August 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, accompanied by the Commanding General of the 96th Higher National Guard Battalions Command, Brigadier General Charalambos Abatzidis, visited the “Inousses” and “Panaghia” Surveillance Outposts in Chios.
The Deputy Minister was briefed by the Outpost Commanders of the remote outposts on current activities and addressed the cadres and enlisted soldiers manning their guards. He also inspected the facilities and their assets.
Mr. Chardalias, addressing the personnel of the two Surveillance Outposts, expressed his full satisfaction with the flawless level of operational capability and readiness of the outposts and stressed the high sense of duty and professionalism he saw in the performance of their duties on the country’s border.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence, in the context of his visit to the “Inousses” Surveillance Outpost, delivered protective equipment to the volunteer firefighters of said island, in the presence of the Mayor, Mr. Georgios Daniil; moreover, at Mr. Chardalias’s initiative, similar equipment is in the process of being delivered to volunteer firefighters in Psara, Fourni, and Aghios Efstratios. This donation of the Ministry of National Defence is part of its everlasting support, in terms of materials, to the important volunteer work performed by the volunteer firefighters and their active participation in the fire protection and firefighting plans throughout Greece.
