On Thursday, 10 July 2025, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis awarded the graduation diplomas at the oath-taking ceremony of the new Sergeants of the 6th Training Class of the Hellenic Air Force NCO Academy, which was held at Dekelia Air Base.
The ceremony was also attended by the Metropolitan of Ilion, Acharnes, and Petroupoli, Mr. Athinagoras, the Chief/HAFGS, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, representing also the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Houpis, the Commander of the Air Training Command, Major General (HAF) Ioannis Asimakopoulos, Air Force General Officers, the Consul of Senegal to Athens, Mr. Georgios Pratikakis, representing the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Greece, HE Mr. Ngor Ndiaye, the Cypriot National Guard General Staff Liaison Officer to the HNDGS, Artillery Colonel Andreas Prodromou, representing the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Athens, Mr. Stavros Avgoustides, representatives of the Chiefs of Defence, delegations of Armed and Security Forces Officers, members of Retired Officer Unions and, family members of the new Sergeants.
204 Sergeants graduated from the Academy, of which 188 from Greece, 15 from Cyprus, and 1 from Senegal.
Upon conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Davakis stated:
“It is with great emotion that I awarded today the graduation diplomas to the new NCOs, women and men, of the Hellenic Air Force NCO Academy.
The oath-taking does not only reflect the successful completion of a demanding training programme, it is also the springboard for a life dedicated to the utmost good of security for Greek citizens and our country’s territorial integrity.
With their strong sense of duty, consistency and professionalism, as well as their faith in the values of the Greek Non-Commissioned Officer, today’s ceremony marks the official induction of the new Sergeants into the country’s Armed Forces.
With faith in their physical and spiritual capabilities, their conscientiousness, as well as their values, I wholeheartedly wish them all the best for their career”.
