On Friday 28 March 2025, Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis attended the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-recruited soldiers of the 2025 B Enlistment Series, which was held at the Supply and Transportation Training Centre in Sparta.
This ceremony marks the beginning of military service for the new recruits, who join the country’s Armed Forces, assuming the ultimate responsibility of defending their country.
The ceremony was also attended by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Monemvasia and Sparta Mr. Efstathios, the Deputy Head of Region for the Regional Unit of Laconia Theodoros Veroutis, the Mayor of Sparta Michalis Vakalopoulos, Lieutenant General Alexandros Chatzialexandris, as representative of the Chief/HAGS, and the Commandant of the Training Centre, Brigadier General Georgios Zorbas.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, in his address to the sworn in recruits, stated that the oath they just took is a holy oath to the ideal of the Country and the timeless struggles for its liberty.
The ceremony, held in a spirit of pride and emotion, marked a special moment for local society and the recruits.
