Today, Monday 20 April 2026, the contract on the construction of the Park of Naval Tradition was signed at the “Ioannis Kapodostrias” Hall, at the Ministry of National Defence.

The ceremony was attended on behalf of the political leadership by Deputy Minister Thanasis Davakis. The military leadership was represented by HNDGS Chief General Dimitrios Choupis, HAGS Chief Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, HNGS Chief Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleytherios Kataras, HAFGS Chief Lieutenant General Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, as well as by members of the Armed Forces.

On behalf of the Urban Nonprofit Organisatoion “CYCLOPS” which fully funds the project, the contract was signed by its Chairman Mr. Aris Theodoridis and on behalf of the constructing company of the Mytilineos Group ELEMKA, by its Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ioannis Mytilineos.

Amongst other things, Mr. Davakis in his address stated the following:

“Today is a special day for the Hellenic Navy and the Ministry of National Defence. Personally, I am very happy to be living this moment and setting the “foundation stone” on this jewel, which is added to the assets of the Armed Forces , and will be a living cell of preserving and transmitting the history of our naval tradition. Apart from other things, this project is quite innovative, since for the first time ever our naval power, the two sides of the same coin, the Merchant Navy and the Hellenic Navy, the basic pillar -through time- of our history and economy, are cohoused in a state-of-the-art, environment friendly building which alters the facade of the coastal front of Attica.

Mr. Theodoridis, thank you for assuming this initiative and for your donation, for providing your support not only to the Armed Forces but also to the entire Greek society. This donation is added to your total contribution to the Ministry of the National Defence and to our Country. This is a great honour for the Armed Forces which I call you to consider your family”.
