Today, Wednesday 9 September 2026, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis met at the Ministry of National Defence with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Air Force Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi.

The focus of this meeting was the further enhancement of the bilateral strategic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of defence, security, and technology, confirming the common interest in strengthening regional stability.

Mr. Davakis then had a working meeting with the Ambassador of India, Mr. Ravi Shankar. During their discussion, they reaffirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations and examined specific ways for further enhancement, primarily in the areas of defence, security, and the defence industry.

After the meeting, Mr. Davakis made the following statement:

“Close cooperation with friendly and allied nations is a solid pillar of the national strategy of Greece, which continues to build strong defence partnerships which promote security and stability in the broader region.”
