Deputy Minister of National Defence visits Lesvos

On Saturday 03 July 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence traveled to Lesvos to the Area of Responsibility of the 98 Higher National Guards Battalions Command.

He visited the Headquarters of the 98 Higher National Guards Battalions Command, where he participated in a coordinating meeting on the management of migration flows. The meeting was attended by the Commander of 98 Higher National Guards Battalions Command Major General Dimitrios Tsipidis, the Director of the Lesvos Police Department Superintendent Ilias Vazouras , the Commander of the 9th Regional Command of the Hellenic Coast Guard Commodore Dimitrios Kostarakis, the Regional Governor of the Fire Department of Northern Aegean Fire Brigadier Christoforos Bokas, the Central Harbor Master of Mytilene, as well as the Commander of the Naval Base of Lesvos.

He also attended a meeting at the Lesvos Military Post Exchange where he talked with the personnel.

In the context of the development of extroversion actions of the Ministry of National Defence, aiming to mutual utilize the capabilities to the benefit of the Country and the social contribution to the local communities, the Deputy Minister of National Defence held meetings with the Metropolitans of Mytilene, Eressos, and Plomari Mr. Iakovos, of Mithymna Mr.Chrysostomos, the Mayor of Western Lesvos Mr. Taxiarhis Verros, and the Presidents of the Municipal Communities of Moria, Mr. Ioannis Mastrogiannis and of Panagiouda Mr. Evangelos Violatzis . Additionally he visited the Municipal Community of Agiasos where he discussed with the citizens.

During his stay he visited the Museum of Industrial Olive Oil Production of Lesvos, where he visited an exhibition for the 200 years since the Greek Revolution entitled “ A different ’21 : The Greek Revolution with PLAYMOBIL figures and models” in cooperation with the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation and the National History Museum.
