The Ministry of National Defence, due to an initiative by the Alternate Minister of National Defence Panagiotis Rigas, in the context of the Pan-Hellenic National Resistance Celebration Day, celebrated every year on 25 November, hosts an event at building BLOCK 15 in Chaidari Camp, where the movie “THE LAST NOTE” by Pantelis Voulgaris will be projected.

Over 21 thousand imprisoned liberty fighters have passed through the hell of BLOCK 15 in Chaidari Camp, which functioned as a concentration camp during the Occupation. Among them there were many Greek Hebrews, who were later led to execution, hard labour, Germany’s concentration camps and elsewhere. Among the thousands of prisoners, over 700 were executed in Kaisariani and 200 of them on May 1st, 1944.

The event constitutes a demonstration of memory and honour and at the same time an effort simulating a time-machine, which turns historical memory to an experiential moment. At the cold scenery of the building, we try to make historical memory resurface. Between the walls of the small chambers, where the magnificence of the people who defeated death in deed and not in words, breathed and fluttered its wings, because they simply fought for something which transcends death.

The Ministry of National Defence, for the first time in the context of the National Resistance Celebration Day, honours its fighters in this place of martyrdom.

Four projections will take place:

–         Friday 23 November 2018:

1st projection at 18.00 and 2nd projection at 20.30

–         Saturday 24 November 2018: 

3rd projection at 18.00 and 4th projection at 20.30

ADMISSION TO KARAISKAKIS A’ CAMP (SIGNALS SCHOOL) WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY WITH THE PRESENTATION OF PERSONAL INVITATIONS. INVITATIONS CAN BE PROVIDED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING TELEPHONE NUMBERS: 2106598337 AND 2106598315 (Access to the Camp from Athens through Athinon Avenue. Approximately 250 metres after the “ΑΒ VΑSΙLΟPΟULΟS’’ super market at Athinon Avenue Nr 242, right turn at Rimini Street, opposite the Swimming Pool).

All guests will have to bring their ID or passport with them. Those who will use their own cars will be able to park in the Camp, near BLOCK 15, while regular bus services will be executed for the rest, with mini buses leaving from the Central Gate for BLOCK 15. The guests are kindly requested to be at the projection area 15 minutes before it starts.
