The Deputy Minister of National Defence Ioannis Kefalogiannis presented HAF Captain (Med/Nurse) Ekaterini Sigala with an award, on Thursday 16 November, for showing great spirit of responsibility, while attending a training programme in the United States of America. The award ceremony was attended by the Chief of HAFGS, HAF Lieutenant General Themistoklis Bourolias, the Director of HAFGS/MED DTE, HAF Major General (Med/Doctor) Panagiotis Kostopoulos, and HAF Brigadier General (Med/Doctor) Konstadinos Siafakas.
The HAF Captain, performed first aid procedures to a man that suffered an epileptic episode during training.
After thanking her on behalf of the Political and Military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, the Deputy Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the humanitarian spirit she showed.
After the ceremony, Mr Kefalogiannis stated:
“A few days ago I asked from HNDGS to take all necessary action, so that HAF Captain (Med/Nurse) Ekaterini Sigala can be awarded, as she showed great spirit of responsibility, while on a training programme in the USA, by performing first aid to a man that suffered an epileptic episode. Today, after thanking her on behalf of the Political and Military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, I expressed to her, my deep appreciation for the humanitarian spirit she showed.
Such actions showcase the code of values that characterises the women and men of the Armed Forces in the best way possible.”
