HS Samos left for Tinos island today at 4:20 p.m, in order to host residents of the island who need help, because of the power supply problems which were caused on the island by the recent bad weather conditions, whereas an NH-90 helicopter of the Army transferred technicians of the Public Power Corporation to Andros island, in order to check the power supply network, following an order by the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias and a relevant suggestion by the Chief of HNGS, Vice Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Christos Manolas.
A telephone conversation between the Mayor of Tinos island Simos Orphanos with Mr. Dendias had taken place earlier. The mayor informed the Minister of National Defence about the problems which have been caused to the residents of the island by the three-day long power outage.
The Minister of Labour, Social Security and Welfare and Member of Parliament representing the Cyclades region in the outgoing Parliament Yannis Vroutsis also contacted the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias about the issue of the provision of assistance by the Armed Forces and the solution of problems.
