Honorary Event of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence for the Cretan Resistance During WWII (25/10/16)

On Tuesday 25 October 2016 at 19.00, in the amphitheatre of the Athens War Museum (Rizari 2), the Ministry of National Defence will organise the event “World War II: The Cretan Resistance through the German records processed by the Army History Directorate”.

The event is part of a wider circle of activities under the general title “Liberated Athens”, on the occasion of the 12th October, the day when Athens was liberated in 1944 from the Nazi occupation troops, while at the same time it is connected to the celebration of the national anniversary of the 28th October.

The event includes a presentation by the Army History Directorate of data and documents from the records of Wehrmacht, processed by the Army History Directorate and a speech for the Cretan Resistance, in the Battle of Crete, as well as the National Resistance that followed. The music and dancing band of the Cretan Union of Keratsini – Drapetsona will contribute to the event.
