The Ministry of National Defence underlines that the answer given by the Department of Parliamentary Control of the Ministry of National Defence
regarding a Question and an Application to Submit Documents by the Official Opposition on “Sovereignty over islet of Evros river”, is absolutely identical to the answer of the Ministry of Citizen Protection on 14 September 2022.
Given the coordinates provided by the trilateral contact centre Kapitan Andreevo, and confirmed by the Hellenic Military Geographical Service, the migrants were outside the Greek territory.
The aforementioned are entirely valid. The migrants were not in Greek, but in Turkish territory, on the islet ‘Kissario’.
Therefore, no Greek team could intervene within foreign territory. The Turkish side was promptly informed, so as to proceed to all necessary acts on its territory. As soon as they entered in the Greek territory, the migrants were picked up and appropriately taken care of.
Similar national matters need to be seen by all with the proper attention and sobriety.
