To:
Ms Eleni Touloupaki, Assistant District Attorney of the Court of Appeals, District Attorney of Economic Crimes – Crimes of Corruption, Athens
I was informed by the press that yesterday when asked by a journalist about the progress of the case regarding the sale of ammunition to Saudi Arabia, You allegedly answered that the case will be referred to the Parliament or that You have already referred it to the Parliament, a fact contradicted by the Parliament and the Ministry of Justice.
As you well know a) I asked for the case to be investigated through military justice and the Internal Affairs Unit with immediate communication of all the evidence to you and b) because that “sale” never happened, owing to other people’s actions and not because of the Minister of Defence.
For these reasons I request what I am entitled to, as stipulated by the Law regarding ministers’ responsibilities: a) non-application of the beneficial clauses regarding active ministers and b) the continuation of the said investigation by You. Furthermore I state expressly and categorically that I am at Your disposal to testify as a plain Greek citizen in order to facilitate Your investigation, so that it will immediately move forward.
Kind Regards
PANOS KAMMENOS
Minister of National Defence
