“President of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association, Senator Raptakis,
Honourable members of the Association’s delegation,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I, together with the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, have the pleasure of welcoming you today at the Ministry of National Defence.
We really appreciate the initiatives of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA) to strengthen the links between Greeks abroad and the country, to promote national interests and to raise international public awareness about matters of crucial importance to our country. We are extremely proud that there are over 170 members of the Association holding key posts in the Parliaments across 24 countries.
I would like to stress your significant contribution and support to the work and the efforts of Greece to build stronger alliances with Albania, Australia, France, the USA, Jordan, Canada, South Africa and Sweden, and other countries that share the same vision and values based on the rules of International Law and the principle of good neighborly relations.
Greece, being a member and key ally of the EU and NATO, is increasingly becoming a firm, reliable and at the same time important partner and ally in the region.
We will always remain a pillar of stability, while respecting the obligations, abiding by the commitments, dedicating to promoting stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans and not only, prepared to enhance our regional role.
Thank you.”
