Meeting at the MOD of the Joint Working Group of the MOD and the Hellenic Bank Association, aiming at forming the final proposals to relieve thousands of Armed Forces’ personnel that have taken any form of loans by the banking system

Following the individual meetings with Greek banks, which took place in the previous days, tomorrow afternoon the Joint Working Group of the Ministry of National Defence and the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) will meet at the Ministry of National Defence, in order to conclude to the formation of the final proposals that will decisively contribute to relieving thousands of Armed Forces’ personnel that have taken any form of loans from the banking system.

It should be reminded that the relative initiative was assumed by the Minister of National Defence Mr. Panos Panagiotopoulos who met few days ago with the President and Board members of the Hellenic Bank Association and proposed to them the following, as measures for the relief of borrowers-personnel of the Armed Forces:

1.    Loan repayment extension, without further surcharge.

2.    Reduction in the loan’s interest rate.

3.    Reduction of the monthly instalment, so that it doesn’t exceed 25% of the actual income of each personnel in the Armed Forces that is a borrower.

Head of the Ministry’s of National Defence delegation is the Special Secretary Mr. Antonis Oikonomou and the Hellenic Bank Association’s delegation will be the Secretary General Mr. Christos Gkortsos.
