The Deputy Ministers of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Chardalias and Mr Ioannis Kefalogiannis, in the presence of the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, received today, Wednesday 5 July 2023, at the
Ministry of National Defence, the students and teachers of the 5 th General Senior High School of Vyronas, who participated in the European Competition “CanSat In Europe” organised by the European Space Agency-ESA in Malaga – Spain, from 26 to 30 June, with the expenses fully covered by HMoND. At the European Competition “CanSat In Europe” the students and teachers of the 5 th General Senior High School of Vyronas, who had won the first prize at the Pan-Hellenic Competition of space technologies “CanSat In Greece” one month ago, represented our country in the best possible way by winning the prize of the “Highest Technical Achievement”, thus proving the high level of our youth in the fields of IT and technology.
The miniaturised geostationary satellite they constructed with Artificial Intelligence technology, allows for secure communications, scientific measurements and recognition of dangerous situations such as fires. During the visit, the Headmaster of the school Mr Charalambos Alexatos and the students talked with the Deputy Ministers of National Defence, thanking them for the support to their participation in the European
Competition. Mr Chardalias and Mr Kefalogiannis congratulated them on their international success and wished them to persist with the same zeal and zest for learning, towards their next achievements. Their dreams constitute the hope of Greece for a generation of prosperity and constant progress.
