The Minister of National Defence Mr Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos received today, Thursday 29 July 2021, a delegation of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association in the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Hall, where an extensive briefing on issues of Greek interest took place, aiming for the development of a joint strategy.
Other attendants at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr Alkiviadis Stefanis, the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros and the Chiefs of HAFGS Lieutenant General Georgios Blioumis, HAGS Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis and HNGS Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis.
During his address, the Minister of National Defence stressed the following:
“Allow me to warmly welcome all of you and state how much we appreciate the initiatives of the World Inter-Parliamentary Hellenic Association for the strengthening of the bonds between the Greeks living abroad and their Homeland, for the promotion of our national interests and the raising of international awareness regarding issues of vital importance for our country.
I saw many new faces and that is particularly positive and encouraging. It demonstrates that apart from the great present, a great future is also foreboded for the Inter-Parliamentary Association. The introduction of new faces across politics always constitutes a good sign for the future, especially when this regards the Greek Diaspora. I believe that Hellenism is the greatest strength of our country and I had the opportunity to stress that during a special event a few days ago. The Greeks of the Diaspora constitute the most valuable asset of Hellenism.
Those who engage in public life, offer an added advantage in what we are trying to do and in the way with which we are promoting our country’s interests in hard times”.
In his address the Deputy Minister of National Defence underlined:
“Welcome! We are very glad to have you here.
We believe that we share common values and with our cooperation, we promote our Nation’s interests.
Thank you for your presence here”.
