On Thursday, 26 May 2022, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, in his capacity as president of the Inspection Committee regarding the “Park of Maritime Tradition” project, at Flisvos, Paleo Faliro, was briefed by the competent surveyors on the completion of the necessary designs and planning, as well as on the upcoming construction, furnishing, and operation stages of the Park.
The Park of Maritime Tradition will be constructed within a three-year period through a single donation of the Drama-based Civil Non-Profit Company “CYCLOPS” and delivered to the Hellenic State.
The modern and environmentally friendly facilities of the Park of Maritime Tradition, under the name “ODYSSEAS”: The Greeks and the Sea”, will host the history of the Navy and Merchant Marine, offering visitors the opportunity to see the development of Greek seamanship through historic examples, the arts, the parallel and, often, common path of the Navy and Merchant Marine with regard to the establishment of the Hellenic State from ancient times until today.
The donation is monitored by the Office for synergy with the Society of Citizens of the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and all Attica Region and local government agencies.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence was accompanied by the committee members Mr. Ioannis Zervakis, Advisor to the Prime Minister, responsible for the synergy with the Society of Citizens, the Deputy Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Rear Admiral Georgios Kambourakis HN, the Deputy Director of the Public Relations Directorate of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Colonel Mihail Sosonis, as well as all competent officials, who were also briefed on the project development.
