The Minister of National Defence, Evangelos Apostolakis, on Monday 20 May 2019, on the occasion of the 78th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete, represented the Government and attended an official doxology at the Holy Metropolitan Orthodox Church of Chania, the official Flag raising ceremony at FIRKAS Fort, as well as an event at the Souda Bay War Cemetery, where he laid a wreath. The events were also attended by the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis, while delegations of members from the Armed Forces participated as well.
