On Thursday, 20 June 2019, the Minister of National Defence Evangelos Apostolakis met at his office with the Commander of the US 6th Fleet, Vice Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti, who is paying an official visit to Greece, upon invitation of the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN.
Vice Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti was accompanied by the US Ambassador to Athens Geoffrey Pyatt, while the meeting was also attended by the Chief of Hellenic Navy General Staff.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, mainly matters of cooperation between the Hellenic and US Navies in the areas of joint training of naval units, joint exercises, and exchanges of personnel.
