The political and military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence visit the city of Thessaloniki to attend the three-day festivities with regard to the patron saint of the city, Aghios Dimitrios, the liberation anniversary and the 28th of October National Day. The Minister of Defence of Cyprus and the Chief of the National Guard General Staff also attend the festivities.
The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General (HAF) Christos Christodoulou, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis HN, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kampas, the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff Lieutenant General (HAF) Georgios Blioumis and the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence Antonis Ikonomou attended this morning the official Doxology, at Aghios Dimitrios Church.
The President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Minister of Defence of Cyprus Mr. Savvas Angelidis, the Chief of the National Guard General Staff Lieutenant General Ilias Leontaris, representatives of political parties, members of the Parliament and members of the Local Self-government attended the Doxology.
At noon, the Minister of National Defence attended the military parade at Aristotelous Square, with the participation of armed and unarmed detachments paying honours. Next, he visited the Thessaloniki Guard Officers Club along with the military leadership, where the Commander of the C Army Corps Lieutenant General Constantinos Koutras gave a dinner in honour of the President of the Hellenic Republic.
