Today 17 March 2021, the Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participated as a central speaker in a web event entitled “ The defence armouring of Greece as a pillar of stability and growth” organized by the AHEPA Chapter HJ-20 “ORFEAS” of Komotini and the AHEPA Chapter HJ-30 “THEAGENIS” of Thassos.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos underlined, amongst other things, that the issue of the defence armouring of Greece is not just a prerequisite for the security of the country, but also a factor which will allow it to confirm its role as a pillar of peace, stability and security in the wider region.
The Minister of National Defence stressed that the need to upgrade the combat capability and the deterrent power of the Armed Forces, especially during times of tensions, crises and asymmetric threats, can simultaneously act as progress of developmental dimensions, since it can bring about the rearrangement of the defence industry with a positive impact on the economy.
This web event was organized under the auspices of AHEPA HELLAS DISTRICT 25 and was moderated by former Governor (PDG) Mr. Efstathios Kefallidis. The event was prefaced by the AHEPA Supreme President Mr. George Horiates, the AHEPA Supreme Governor of Europe Mr. Fanos Patiris, the Governor of ΑΗΕΡΑ HELLAS DISTRICT 25 Mr. Konstantinos Varsamis ,the President of the AHEPA Chapter HJ-20 “ORFEAS” of Komotini, the Vice-President of Education of District 25 Mr. Theodosios Theodosiou , the President of the AHEPA Chapter HJ-30 “THAGENIS” of Thassos and the Vice-President of Family and Individual Excellence of District 15 Mr. Dimitrios Stiggas.
