Today, Friday 4 September 2020, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met with the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Greece Mrs. Stella Ronner-Grubačić, with whom he discussed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean following the unlawful stance of Turkey.
Mr. Panagiotopoulos briefed the Ambassador of the Netherlands on the developments, stressing the need of the Turkish research vessel and war ships to withdraw from the Greek continental shelf area. He also stressed that the prolonged presence of the Turkish war ships renders de-escalation impossible, increases the risk of an accident and destabilizes the wider region.
During the meeting they discussed the further enhancement of the mutually beneficial defence cooperation, as well as the cooperation in the context of NATO and the EU.
