Today Tuesday 29 September the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos travelled to Crete participating in the government delegation along which Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and US Secretary of State Mr. Michael R. Pompeo visited the Souda Naval Base facilities.

The government delegation composed by the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikolaos Dendias and HNDGS Chief General Konstantinos Floros received the Prime Minister and the Head of the US State Department, in the morning, at the facilities of 115 Combat Wing.

Then they visited the Naval Station Activity (NSA) at the Souda base and the Hellenic Naval Base at the Marathi NATO Pier Complex where they were briefed on the capabilities of the special operations vessels Combatant Craft Medium (CCM), as well as on the mission of frigate “SALAMIS”, moored in the area.
