Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos at the voluntary blood donation of the Supreme Military Sports Council of the Armed Forces – Olympic Stadium under the motto “Sports Unite”

The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, accompanying the Deputy Minister of Sports Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, visited the Distinguished Guests Hall of the Olympic Sports Centre of Athens Centre “Spyros Louis” where a voluntary blood donation was held under the motto “Sports Unite”.

The event which was organized by the Supreme Military Sports Council of the Hellenic Armed Forces and the Olympic Stadium, under the auspices of the Ministries of National Defence, Health and the General Sports Secretariat, was attended by many active and retired Olympic Champions and World Champions belonging to the Armed Forces and Security Forces classes, as well as by civilian blood donours. The success of the event is owed to the collaboration among “Zise Athitika” Foundation, the National Blood Donation Centre and the “Smile of the Child”, while consistently keeping up with all protection measures to prevent the spread of the “Covid-19” strain.

The Minister delivered the following address:

“We were happy today to go the Olympic Stadium with my friend Deputy Minister of Sports Lefteris Avgenakis to witness the amazing blood donation effort organized by the Ministry of Sports, in cooperation with the Olympic Stadium management, the Supreme Military Sports Council of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of National Defence, the “Zise Athlitika” Foundation, attracting many athletes who serve the Armed Forces, many of whom are distinguished Olympic Champions, to donate their blood during this remarkable, social initiative which is do much needed these days.

Congratulations to all people involved, the athletes, the draftees, the staff of the Armed Forces who came to voluntarily donate blood. Merry Christmas, health, joy and happiness to all”.
