Minister of National Defence orders the contribution of the Armed Forces to the staffing of the country’s Entry Points

The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos has positively responded to the request posed by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection concerning the substantial contribution of the Armed Forces to the planning and implementation of the plan for the conduct of random spot checks for the “Covid-19” on the visitors of our country as of the 1st July 2020.

By order of the Minister of National Defence, as of tomorrow and for three months permanent echelons consisting of Armed Forces medical personnel (26 Officers and 100 NCOs), will staff the 22 specified airport entry points of the country, as well as the four points of first entry of cruise-liners passengers.

The Armed Forces personnel will exclusively participate in the sample taking. The number of persons to be submitted to the test, the processing of the samples and the checks results will be conducted following specific guidelines with the exclusive responsibility of the National Public Health Organisation and the Ministry of Health.
