On Thursday, 26 June 2025, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias met with the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises at the Armed Forces Officers’ Club.
During the meeting, Mr. Dendias gave a briefing on the major changes implemented in the field of National Defence through the “2030 Agenda”. Such changes leave a clear impact on national economy, through the development of defence innovation and technology, which constitutes the main pillar of the reform, as well as the requirement for an average domestic value added of 25% in the implementation of the Long-term Armaments Programme.
The Minister of National Defence also presented the major changes brought to the institution of the Reserve to the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises Board of Directors, in the presence of the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Choupis, and the Chief/HAGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, including the establishment of the new active reservists institution. Soldiers and Potential Reserve Officers may volunteer for the new institution after the completion of their compulsory military service and will undergo a different kind of training for a different state of readiness in order to be able to immediately support the Armed Forces and meet operational needs.
As it was pointed out, the Ministry of National Defence aims at establishing a framework, which will allow for the seamless participation of active Reservists in regular training activities and exercises, through the elimination of potential obstacles.
The objective is for citizens – reservists to be able to fulfil their duties to the Country without undermining or endangering their labour and insurance rights or professional prospects.
Mr. Dendias expressed his hopes that the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises will actively support this national effort and that the country’s enterprises will contribute significantly, so that the active reservists institution is successful, thus proving that Defence is a matter of collective responsibility.
On behalf of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, the meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Spyros Theodoropoulos and the President of the Executive Committee Rania Ekaterinari. On behalf of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises Board of Directors, the meeting was also attended by Vice President Eftichios Vassilakis, General Secretary Alexandra Papalexopoulou, Treasurer Marco Veremis, and Member Evangelos Chrysafis.
Meetings between the Minister of National Defence and other enterprises and employers will follow, with the aim of attaining actual support of the active reservists institution from social partners.
