On Tuesday, 8 July 2025, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, representing the Prime Minister, attended the oath-taking ceremony of the new Second Lieutenants, Class 2025, held at the Hellenic Air Force Academy in Tatoi, before His Excellency, the President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas, who presented the Officer’s sword to the new Second Lieutenants of the Hellenic Air Force. The doxology was officiated by the Metropolitan of Ilion, Acharnes, and Petroupoli Mr. Athinagoras.
The ceremony was also attended by MP Aggelos Syrigos, representing the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, MP Vasilis Oikonomou, the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Houpis, the Chief/HAGS, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief/HAFGS, Lieutenant General (HAF) Dimosthenis Grigoriadis, the Assistant Secretary for Defence of PASOK-KINAL Thomas Hatziathanasiou, representing the Leader of the Opposition, the Mayor of Acharnes Spyros Vrettos, the Commandant of the Hellenic Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Stavros Karlatiras HN, representing the Chief/HNGS, and members of the Supreme Air Council.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Security Forces, the judiciary, ambassadors and representatives of foreign diplomatic authorities in Greece, Honorary Chiefs, active duty and retired Officers, as well as family members of the new Second Lieutenants.
155 Second Lieutenants graduated from the Academy, 129 men and 26 women (Pilots, Aircraft Engineers, Air Installation Engineers, Telecommunications – Electronics Engineers, and Air Defence Controllers), of which 138 from Greece, 9 from Cyprus, 3 from Montenegro, 2 from Jordan, 2 from Tunisia and 1 from Senegal.
