On Tuesday, 05 December 2023, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, participated in the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting in Ghana.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Dendias met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Shirley Botchwey. During the meeting, they highlighted the friendly relations between Greece and Ghana and the adherence of both states to the rules of International Law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
The Greek Minister of National Defence also had a meeting with the Minister of Defence of Ghana, Dominic Nitiwul. During their meeting, they stressed their mutual desire to enhance bilateral defence cooperation and sign an MoU for cooperation in the area of military training.
Mr. Dendias met in Ghana with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean Pierre Lacroix, with whom he discussed the significant contribution of Greece in UN Peacekeeping Operations and the recognition of its importance.
On the sidelines of the UN Ministerial Meeting, the Minister of National Defence also had a meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Michalis Giorgallas.
