The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias will travel to Lorient, France, tomorrow, Friday 30 October 2026, to participate (13.30 local time) in the ceremony for the raising of the Greek flag, on board the second FDI HN class (Belharra) Greek frigate “Nearchos”, which marks its official incorporation into the Hellenic Navy.
In the framework of his visit, the Minister of National Defence will meet earlier (12.30 local time), his French counterpart, Catherine Vautrin, and they will discuss matters of bilateral defence cooperation, regional and European security, as well as the perspectives for further deepening the strategic relationship between the two countries. Afterwards, the two Ministers will make joint Press statements.
Particular emphasis will be put on the implementation of existing agreements, on the partnership in the sector of defence industry, and on the coordination of both sides against modern security challenges.
