On Tuesday 5 December 2023, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias, visited the Greek School of Aghios Nikolaos in Tema, on the occasion of his visit to Ghana to participate in the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting.
Following his visit at the school, Mr. Dendias stated:
“Today was a great pleasure, I dare to say a moment of great emotion for me, to come once again here in Tema of Accra, at the Greek School of Aghios Nikolaos, on the day before the Saint’s celebration and celebrate tomorrow’s great celebration together with the children here.
I would like to thank once again, first, those who contribute to this unique effort, Captain Panagiotis Tsakos and his Foundation, Vangelis Mytilinaios and his Foundation, all volunteers who have created a warm, hospitable “nest” for the children of this hard to survive region.
I repeat once again that the Hellenic State will continue to contribute to this effort and support it. I have already promised that we will provide the rest of the money to finish “Giannis Antetokounmpo” stadium, so that the children can play basketball, and afterwards we will construct a football stadium as well. Two old players are here (Peter Ofori-Quaye and Kofi Amponsah), who will help these children learn football and create two very good teams, one in basketball and one in football.
Once again, I am happy to be here today”.
