Today 29 June 2021, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos participated in the celebratory events for the completion of 108 years since the liberation of Kavala and the celebration of the city’s Patron Saint Apostolos Pavlos.
The Minister attended the Holy Doxology at the Holy Temple of Apostolos Pavlos, officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Fillipoi, Neapolis and Thassos, Stefanos. The doxology was also attended by the Mayor of Kavala Mr. Theodoros Mouriadis.
Then Mr. Panagiotopoulos attended the Memorial Service held at the Heroes Monument and laid a wreath in their honour. Then he visited Guided Missile Fast Patrol Vessel “Chrystallidis” docked at the port of Kavala since 27 June, participating in the “Eleytheria 2021” events.
Following the conclusion of the events the Minister of National Defence Stated the following:
“Today marks an important day of remembrance for the city of Kavala which celebrates its liberation and its Patron Saint.
So I seize this opportunity to wish a Happy Anniversary to Kavala and all its citizens, may it always celebrate gloriously its great day”.
Yesterday, Monday 28 June 2021, Mr. Panagiotopoulos attended the vesper at the Apostolos Pavlos Cathedral and was presented the Gold Medal of Apostolos Pavlos by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Fillipoi, Neapolis and Thassos , Stefanos, for his services to the country.
