On Saturday, 03 September 2022, the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, welcomed at “Megas Alexandros” Airport in Kavala His All Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in the presence of his Beatitude, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II, his Eminence, the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Epiphanius, and his Eminence, the Metropolitan of Philippi, Neapolis, and Thasos, Mr. Stefanos, as well as the Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army, Lieutenant General Angelos Houdeloudis.
Following the welcoming ceremony, they went to the port of Thasos, where they attended the reception of the Holy Icon of the Synaxis of the Saints of Thasos, as well as the Doxology at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Panaghia village.
