On Wednesday 17 July 2024, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias visited the Hellenic Army Support Command at Camp “Zorbas” in Goudi.

He was accompanied by the Chief HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis and the Chief HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.

Mr. Dendias was given a detailed briefing by the Commanding General of the Hellenic Army Support Command Lieutenant General Dimitrios Bolomytis and the staff officers of the Formation.

After the briefing, Mr. Dendias stated the following:

“Ladies and gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure to be here today, at the Hellenic Army Support Command, along with the Chief HNDGS and the Chief HAGS.

The Hellenic Army Support Command is a formation of great importance for the Hellenic Army, for the Hellenic Armed Forces. Because an army well trained does not only need forces on the front line, it needs a whole support mechanism and that support mechanism is the Hellenic Army Support Command.

I would like to say that I am satisfied from what I saw and realised, due to the briefing of the Commander.

The Hellenic Army Support Command is a necessary part of the “2030 Agenda” for the Armed Forces that will be reformed and, as I said before, they must be supported. Of course I believe is now obvious that the “2030 Agenda” is in progress.

Yesterday I had the opportunity, at the Governmental National Security Council, to propose the acquisition of the twenty F-35 (twenty with the option of acquiring twenty more) and the start of our country’s participation, of our Navy, in the Constellation Frigates programme, in the first phase, which is a phase for the determination of technical specifications and ways for the Greek shipyards to participate in this programme.

I also made a proposal for the procurement of the unmanned S-100 helicopters, which will operate from the new Belharra frigates of the Hellenic Navy.

I would also like, after expressing my optimism for the great effort for the reform of the Hellenic Armed Forces made under the “2030 Agenda”, to express my gratitude to the women and men, the members of the Armed Forces, for the huge effort they make during this hard time, so that our country maintains well trained Armed Forces”.
