Today, on Tuesday 2 December 2025, the Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias is travelling to Japan, following an official invitation extended by his counterpart Shinjirō Koizumi.
On Wednesday 3 December 2025, the Greek Minister will meet with his counterpart at the Japanese Ministry of Defence, where an official welcoming ceremony is to take place. Extended talks between the two delegations will follow.
Subsequently, he will visit the facilities of the Defence Innovation Science & Technology Institute, at Ebisu.
Later, he will visit the Naval Systems Research Centre of the Japanese Ministry of Defence, at Meguro.
The Centre belongs to the “Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency” (ATLA) of the Japanese Government.
On Thursday 4 December 2025, Mr Dendias will visit the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he will meet with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayano Kunimitsu. A working lunch will follow, hosted by Mrs Kunimitsu.
On the same day, the Minister of National Defence will meet with the Chair of the Greece-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Taro Kono, at the Japanese House of Representatives.
On the evening of 4 December, he will visit the National Institute for Defence Studies, where he will address a speech concerning the defence relations between Greece and Japan, and the security environment in the broader region of the Southeastern Mediterranean.
In the framework of his visit to Japan, the Minister of National Defence will also hold meetings with the EU Ambassador to Japan, Jean Eric Paquet, and the president of the Hellenic-Japanese Association, Yasuoshi Karasawa.
