Today, Sunday 23 May 2021, the Deputy Minister of National Defence Alkiviadis Stefanis attended the memorial Service in honour of Air Force Captain Konstantinos Iliakis, in Karpathos.
The Deputy Minister of National Defence laid a wreath in his memory with the Minister of State Mr. Georgios Gerapetritis also attending as a Hellenic Government representative.
The ceremony was also attended by Dodecannissos New Democracy party MPs Mr. Vassileios Ipsilandis (Representing the Hellenic Parliament), and Mr. Giannis Pappas, KKE party Heraklion MP Mr. Emmanouil Syntihakis, Regional Governor of Karpathos and – the Heroic island of Kassos Mrs. Kalliopi Nikolaidou, the Mayor of Karpathos Mr. Giannis Nisyrios, HAFGS Chief Lieutenant General (AF) Georgios Blioumis , HNDGS Chief of Staff Lieutenant General (AF) Georgios Fasoulas, the Commander of 95 Higher National Guard Battalions Command Major General Emmanouil Theodorou and Mr. Philippos Iliakis, the brother of the fallen Hero.
