A more extrovert defence industry. Participation in all expositions with one national pavilion

September 10, 2014

Enhancing the exports of the Hellenic Defence Industry has been the main goal of the Ministry of National Defence according also to the guidelines of the Minister of National Defence Dimitris Avramopoulos.

In this context, in early 2014, the Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata started the implementation of the guideline policy taking as a first step the participation of the Hellenic Defence Industry in major International Exhibitions through setting up one national pavilion.

This policy is implemented for the first time in the International Defence Exposition AUSA 2014 to be held on October 12-15 in Washington. The Greek delegation which will be supported by the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce – which settled also the details on the national pavilion – is comprised by four companies, one of which is the Hellenic Defence Systems.

The Alternate Minister of National Defence Fofi Gennimata in cooperation with the Ministry of Development and Competitiveness and particularly with Enterprise Greece ensured a 15,000 euros fund for the national pavilion.

At the same time, while strategic planning is implemented, the preparation of national pavilions in all major defence expositions has progressed efficiently (co-funded by Enterprise Greece which provides it with full know-how support).

Among others, an effort will be made to achieve the greatest possible participation of Greek companies in the exhibitions IDEX (Abu Dabi), LAAD (Rio de Janeiro), IDEF (Istanbul), IDET (Brno), DSEI (London) and International Paris AirShow (Paris).

In addition, a publication is prepared with advertising material under the title “Hellenic Defence Industry 2015-2019” with the participation of all Hellenic Defence Industries. This publication will be utilized on every official visit of high ranked Greek delegations, as well as in our embassies abroad.

It should be added that Defence Industry will be included in the strategic plan which is being drafted by the Ministry of Development and Enterprise Greece for the year 2015. The exports promotion programmes are drafted in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence.
