The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias visits as of today Tuesday 14 July, to Friday 17 July 2026, Qatar and Australia.
In particular, today Tuesday 14 July 2026, Mr. Dendias will be received at Lusail palace in Doha by the Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, so as to convey his condolences on the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Minister of National Defence will then travel to Australia, where he will meet with personnel of research institutes and companies that are internationally at the forefront in the field of Robotics, Innovation and New Technologies, and in the field of Defence. He will also have the opportunity to meet with Australian officials, members of the Greek Community and the academia.
In the framework of his visit, Mr. Dendias will attend a doxology on Tuesday 16 July 2026 at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of our Lady in Sydney, officiated by his Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Primate and Exarch of all Oceania, with whom he will afterwards have a private meeting at the Hellenic Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
On the same day, the Minister of National Defence will take part in a meeting on the subject “Security in the Southeastern Mediterranean” at Business Sydney.
On Friday 17 July 2026, Mr. Dendias will visit the facilities of Australian defence technology companies.
